Jointpop’s brand of fusion between Rock n Roll and a Caribbean perspective is unleashed in the UK when the band release their new album The Longest Kiss Goodnight this Autumn.

You can see the video to one of the album tracks at

jointpop is the brainchild of singer and songwriter Gary Hector. Formed in Trinidad and Tobago out of the debris of his old group Oddfellows Local- the seminal Caribbean rock n roll band of the 90s- jointpop was an evolutionary leap in the musical experimentation of Hector’s sound. Bringing together some of the most sensitive musicians of Trinidad & Tobago underground circuit and marshalled by Hector’s brilliant piercing social commentary rock and roll songs. The band quickly became the benchmark of brilliant local alternative music and music that had a ready international appeal without sacrificing any of its local relevance.

The secret is the fact that Gary Hector is one of the greatest songwriters that the Caribbean has produced, and is one of its best kept secrets. Hopefully a secret that is about to be revealed with a simply stunning new album.

"Charging punk pushes then barges and is downright rude in the face of garage/blues rock, as the Trinidad & Tobago formed renegades of jointpop, grabs hold of the ballsy spirit and slight reggae leanings of The Clash."  Glasswerk

Hector has always shown a very un-Trinidadian penchant for recording albums. The testament is a collection of albums, which constitute the best produced discography of any Trinbagonian act of the last 20 years. His commitment to faithfully capture the sound and feel of the dynamic live band in studio- without resorting to any tricks, bell and whistle was a style unheard of on the island when Hector set on his path from roots in the Caribbean to create a sound likened to The Clash.

"Monday Morning Love Situation is a well-written pop song with touches of Joan Jett and The Ramones."

"Swung together on spit and saw dust, jointpop combine the ragged, passionate delivery of the Clash via The Wildhearts on a particularly scuzzy garage rock trip… Impressive !"
Subba Cultcha

The result has been a very accurate record of a talented singer/songwriter and the band of gifted musicians and collaborators he’s shared his path with. Lead guitarist Damon Homer who is Hector’s major collaborator and whose silky sensitive guitar playing is one of the constant revelations of jointpop’s sound. The full band line up is Gary Hector (Guitar-Vocal) Damon Homer (Guitar) Dion Camacho (Drums) Phil Hill (Keyboards) Jerome Girdharrie (Bass).
