“Mightily enjoyable” – Subba-Cultcha

“Energetic, frustrated and positively industrial” – Dressed In The Dark

Liverpool based indie band, Strawhouses will self release their debut album, These Are Willing as a physical only order, available from their websiteon 6th June 2011.

The album was produced by Jon Withnall (Coldplay/Feeder/Elbow) and is full of gripping melodies, soaring guitars and at time unsettling rhythms. Think Interpol meeting Jeff Buckley in a darkened alley…

Formed in 2007 from the ashes of several early incarnations, the band self released an EP and a ‘Live in Session’ DVD, before releasing their debut single, A Good Night in May 2008, they then went on release their second single Malaise, in 2010 and now their debut album.

The band is fronted by Paul Donnelly, lead guitar comes from Chris Smith, bass guitar and vocals are provided by Michael Bradshaw and Danny Quirk completes the line up on drums.

“The album is certainly the culmination of 4 years of songwriting; it's a very focused and intense listen – the first 5 tracks are unrelenting and quite accessible with songs like Batteries and The Way Of The World and the second half of the album is where the really meaty tracks like Malaise, Runaway Child and Train Wreck can be found.

Lyrically there are two main themes running through the album; the connections and collapses of everyday relationships; the second is my intolerance to excessive greed and abuse of power from those that are in control, and how that filters down.” (Paul Donnelly, Strawhouses frontman)

Strawhouses having already gigged extensively across the country and supported the likes of Red Light Company and NME favorites Die! Die! Die!, playing nights at The Playground at Proud Galleries, Camden’s 93 Feet East, The Night and Day in Manchester, Evol in Liverpool, as well as gigs as far north as Sunderland and far south as Portsmouth, the boys climaxed their relentless touring by performing at Scottish festival Rockness. They will be touring the album from May 2011 and supporting its release with the album's second single proper, Batteries.
