With a flavour of country and a dash of rock ’n’ roll, Tina Lie's rich, raw voice and poignant lyrics evoke the best of Americana roots music. Tough and genuine, Tina tells it like it is in a way that is gravelly, gritty and to the point.
Pulling no punches, Tina sings like she lives: Honestly.
“She has a voice that reminds you of a combination of Janice Joplin and Hanne Boel…she gave the chills to the audience… and Tina delivered it with heart.” – Østlendingen
This comes through in her live shows, which take her music and her personality direct to her audiences in a way that is sometimes intimate, sometimes inspirational, sometimes humorous – but always 100% Tina.
Her performance at the Aamaal Blues Fest was called, “…a real treat…a fantastic performance; all the hair rose from our feet to our heads…[she] captured the audience’s hearts…” (Dag Koman, Hamar Bluesklubb). The press agrees; her performance at Norway’s Oktoberfest inspired one critic to say, “She has a voice that reminds you of a combination of Janice Joplin and [Danish star] Hanne Boel…she gave the chills to the audience… Tina delivered it with heart” (Østlendingen). Tina’s show at Norway’s Storm Festival prompted one critic to write, “What a voice, the audience was astonished” (Bård Kristiansen Festival manager Storm Festival).
And Tina’s performance at Liverpool’s legendary Cavern Club resulted in the unthinkable:
Football fans skipping a match to see Tina’s show.
With eight American tours under her belt, Tina has proven that she also has international potential.
But Tina's talents don’t stop at the stage.
Tina’s latest album “Free Enough to Fall” was produced by renowned Nashville producer Byron House, who has worked with artists such as Sam Bush, Emmylou Harris and Dolly Parton. Originally from Lillehammer, and a firm favourite in Norway having played at many Norwegian venues and festivals, Tina is an americana / blues artist with a raw stunning voice who sings gripping lyrics that are tough, genuine and authentic.
"Of the many artists who work hard to stand out, Tina has what few others have: A distinctive voice that is easily and immediately recognizable as her own." Byron House
Also featured on the album are Mauro Magellan (Georgia Satellites), Shaun Murphy (Little Feat, Bob Seeger), Keith Sewell (Dixie Chicks, Ricky Skaggs), Grammy Award-winning, Native American flautist Bill Miller (Eddie Vedder, Arlo Guthrie and Richie Havens), and celebrated multi-instrumentalist Fats Kamplin, who has worked with Mark Knopfler, Nanci Griffith, Waylon Jennings, Garth Brooks, The Manhattan Transfer, Bad Company and Tom Russell, to name a few. From her passion for performance from the studio to the stage, it is clear that Tina brings her lust for life to everything she does.
Tina is no fragile flower; if you’re looking for flashy froth in your musical diet, look elsewhere.
If you’re looking for a meat and potatoes musical meal, dig in!
